My brushes for watercolour or indeed gouache, inks or acrylics (if used in a manner similar to watercolour) contain both brown fibre brushes, ideal for keeping a sharp point or edge, and the lovely orange oval wash brush. This is really soft, holds lots of colour and if turned onto its edge can create fine lines. Take a look at the video to see how this works.

Here's a short video about my oval wash brush. It offers more than just a brush to create a flat wash - take a look.

TIP - whilst domestic liquid soap is fine for cleaning brushes, there are several artist soap products specifically designed for this which you may prefer.
Cleaning Brushes Watercolour
Wipe off as much paint as possible with either a rag or paper towel. Start by the ferrule and gently wipe towards the tip. Be gentle to keep the shape of the brush as you wipe off excess paint.
Give your brush a good swish around in clean water.
If you will be painting again the next day, place these brushes upright in a jar to let them dry off fully, ready for the next painting session.
If you will not be painting again the next day, then give your brushes a second wash with a soap cleaner. Place a little soap in your hand and massage the brush in your palm, working the soap into the brush fibres before rinsing off with plenty of water.
